I-10 Closure Required this Sunday, January 27

EL PASO – To ensure replacement of a damaged water line is completed safely, Interstate 10 (I-10) in Downtown El Paso will be closed in both directions beginning January 27 for 27 hours. I-10 will be closed from Stanton Street to Mesa Street beginning at 3 a.m. on Sunday with traffic opening back up at 6 a.m. on Monday. Water services will not be interrupted.

The 24-inch steel water line running through a utility bridge was damaged following a July 2018 traffic accident involving a semitractor-trailer.

Commuters travelling east on I-10 will exit Downtown and re-enter on Wyoming Avenue. Westbound traffic will exit Mesa Street and re-enter on Yandell Drive.

Additionally, Wyoming Avenue will be closed and Yandell Drive will have reduced lanes for one week beginning January 29 while the new water line is connected to the existing system.

Commuters are asked to follow all detour signs.
