Land Management

El Paso Water has land management experts that manage all real properties for the utility. Why is land management important to the utility?

  • Land and water rights often go together and can provide access to new water sources.
  • The utility seeks to acquire irrigation water rights through lease assignment contracts with property owners.
  • Land access is important for locating new wells or strategically placing other water, wastewater or stormwater infrastructure.
  • EPWater is the trustee for hundreds of acres of land and manages the process for the sale of surplus land that is determined to be inexpedient (or not needed) as part of the utility system.
  • EPWater leases available EPWater land parcels to maximize revenue.
  • The utility manages property improvements and coordinates land matters with local, state, and federal agencies.

If you have needs related to acquiring utility property, obtaining easements, entering rights-of-way, or gaining a right-of-entry for the construction of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure, please submit a request, and we will respond.
