Summer sandbag distribution schedule begins

Sites will provide sandbags for emergency flood control

Residential customers can pick up sandbags for flood control any day of the week beginning Monday, June 28. The summer site locations and hours will be in effect through the beginning of October. The summer distribution sites will reopen in three areas of El Paso, including the centrally located Stormwater Operations Center, which is also open throughout the year.

Distribution sites were consolidated to three locations based on turnout in past years. This cost-effective measure will allow EPWater to shift resources to other flood protection initiatives. The remaining distribution locations are within five miles of most utility residential customers.

EPWater encourages residential customers who live in areas prone to flooding to have sandbags on hand before most heavy rains begin. The limit is 10 bags per visit. Residential customers will need to show a Texas ID or an El Paso Water bill to get sandbags. El Paso Water does not charge for sandbags. Persons who cannot lift heavy items should be accompanied by someone who can assist with loading and unloading the bags.
