To be considered for this rebate program, customers must fill out an application and submit proof of purchase to EPWater within 60 days of purchase. Purchase must have been made after June 1, 2023. If approved, the rebate amount(s) will be applied to the customer’s water bill within two billing cycles.

Am I responsible for disposal of the old toilet?

Yes, the customer has full responsibility for disposal of the old toilet. Per Texas state law toilets may not be re-used or sold.

Is there a specific toilet I need to buy?

Yes, only EPA WaterSense® toilets are eligible with flushes at 1.28 gallons per flush or less. Toilets not labeled WaterSense® will not be eligible for the rebate.

How many toilets can I get rebates for?

Two per property, while funds are available.

Do I need proof of installation?

Yes, customer must provide either a plumber's receipt, or submit photos of newly installed toilet.

Washing Machine Rebate

HIgh Efficiency (HE) Energy Star washing machines use about 20% less energy and 30% less water than regular washers. This rebate program offers a one-time $100 rebate for an HE Energy Star labeled washing machine.

To be considered for this rebate program, customers must fill out an application and submit proof of purchase to EPWater within 60 days of purchase. Purchase must have been made after June 1, 2024. If approved, the rebate amount(s) will be applied to the customer’s water bill within two billing cycles.

I purchased a high efficiency, but not Energy Star machine; will it qualify?

No, to qualify for this rebate the washing machine must be both high efficiency and Energy Star.

Can I use the rebate for my business?

No, but we do have rebate designed for commercial customers.

Why do you ask how many people are in my home and how much laundry I do?

Questions like this help us evaluate the efficiency of the rebate program. Determining the estimated gallons saved allows the utility to fund additional programs if they are successful.

Laundry-to-Landscape

This system allows the water used to wash clothing to be reused to irrigate landscape plants. A properly designed system allows you to switch between sewer and landscape pipes with a simple turn of the valve, so you only water plants when needed. Receive up $250 per home by installing a Laundry-to-Landscape system.

An L2L system diverts graywater from a washing machine to irrigate landscaping and garden areas, rather than sending it to the sewer. It uses simple, cost-effective methods to reuse water directly from the laundry.

Can I install an L2L system myself?

Yes, many L2L systems are designed for DIY installation with basic tools. It’s important to follow local codes and guidelines to ensure safe and effective operation.

How do I ensure my L2L system is safe for plants?

Use biodegradable, low-sodium, and phosphorus-free detergents to prevent soil and plant damage. Regularly check the irrigation area for signs of plant stress or soil imbalance.

Can I switch back to sewer disposal if needed?

Yes, most L2L systems include a diverter valve that allows you to switch between sending graywater to the landscape or the sewer as needed.

Can graywater from an L2L system be stored for later use?

Typically, graywater should not be stored due to potential bacterial growth and odor issues. It’s best to use it immediately after it’s produced.

Smart Irrigation Control Rebate

A WaterSense labeled irrigation controller helps cut down on overwatering in your landscaping by using the weather to determine when it is appropriate to water. This rebate program offers a one-time $75 rebate for a WaterSense labeled smart irrigation controller.

To be considered for this rebate program, customers must fill out an application and submit proof of purchase to EPWater within 60 days of purchase. Purchase must have been made after June 1, 2024. If approved, the rebate amount(s) will be applied to the customer’s water bill within two billing cycles.

Does the controller need to be weather based and have a soil moisture sensor?

Either a weather-based controller or a soil moisture sensor is acceptable as long as it is labeled WaterSense.

How many controllers can I get a rebate for?

This rebate is good for one controller per home.

Do I still have to follow the watering days and times?

Yes, your controller must be programmed to follow the City's watering ordinance.

Homeowners can receive up to $550 in rebates for installing a rainwater collection system.

Are there regulations or permits required for installing this type of system?

If the rainwater system is connected to an existing irrigation system (public water system) there must be a backflow installed by a master or journeyman plumber that holds a water supply protection specialist endorsement issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
