Protect your Pipes

When temperatures drop water can freeze and pipes can burst, causing water waste and costly damage. It’s important to protect your pipes during the winter months. Here are some tips:

• Locate any exposed pipes or faucets and completely cover the pipe with:
  • Pipe insulation
  • Towel or scrap material
• Disconnect outdoor hoses and cover hose bibs and outdoor faucets with protectors using a store-bought hose protector or a cardboard box.
• If you CANNOT insulate your pipes, let your faucet run at a slow drip.
• Learn how to turn your meter off in case a pipe bursts. You will need a wrench or a tool that can be purchased at a hardware store.
