Three sites to provide sandbags for emergency flood control

EL PASO – Residential customers can pick up sandbags for flood control any day of the week at three locations beginning Monday, July 7. The summer site locations and hours will be in effect through October 3. The West and East/Lower Valley sites will re-open, joining the centrally located Stormwater Operations Center, which is open all year.

“We encourage our residential customers who live in areas prone to flooding to have sandbags on hand before a heavy rain event,” said Gisela Dagnino, Stormwater Chief Operations Officer.

“Our crews have filled more than 80,000 sandbags and it’s great to see our customers take advantage of this service.”

Residential customers will need to show a Texas ID or an El Paso Water bill to get sandbags. The limit is 10 bags per visit. Each sandbag weighs more than 30 pounds. Persons who cannot lift heavy items should be accompanied by someone who can assist with loading and unloading of the bags.
