Sponsorship and Partnership Requests
El Paso Water considers sponsorships and partnerships with non-profit organizations when the request supports EPWater’s public purpose, utility mission, and community responsibilities.
Important Note for Applicants
EPWater is prohibited under state law from providing charitable donations or gifts of public funds. Requests should clearly explain how the proposed sponsorship or partnership relates to water, wastewater, stormwater, sustainability, workforce development, water planning, water quality, conservation, or another approved public purpose.
What Types of Requests May Be Considered?
EPWater may consider sponsorship or partnership requests from non-profit organizations along the lines of the following:
- Technical research that advances water innovation and sustainability
- STEM and workforce development that supports next-generation technical talent
- Messaging/awareness initiatives aimed at promoting conservation, water resources, water quality, sustainability
- Economic development partnerships that embed water planning and water policy into decision making
- Open space initiatives in support of land conservation, environmental preservation, ecosystem restoration.
What Is the Distinction between a Partnership and a Sponsorship?
Generally:
- Partnership: Collaborative initiative with shared objectives and measurable public benefit.
- Sponsorship: Financial or in-kind support tied to a program, event, or initiative aligned with EPWater’s mission.
Eligibility criteria apply to both.
Is Your Proposal a Good Fit?
Your request is more likely to be considered if you can answer “yes” to these questions:
- Is your organization a non-profit organization or a public-purpose partner?
- Does the request directly relate to EPWater’s water mission or public purpose?
- Does the proposal provide a clear public benefit?
- Does the request avoid asking EPWater to fund general fundraising events, or projects/activities outside EPWater’s governmental functions?
